International Summer School of Russian Language 2020: online debut

The Official Closing of the Summer School 2020 took place on August 3. Students, teachers, and international administrators met in the virtual space to sum up this year’s performance, outline plans for the future and share their impressions.

For two weeks students from Poland, China, Vietnam and Peru had been busy studying Russian from the comfort and safety of their homes, ‘walking’ the streets of Votkinsk (this year’s School was dedicated to the 180th anniversary of P.I. Tchaikovskiy), meeting in the Conversation Club, and having tutorials with their teachers and counselors.

Students’ comments on the Summer School 2020 are very complimentary:

Li Ying (China)

Your Summer School is run with excellence. The level of the group is just appropriate. The teacher was very particular about choosing the materials for our classes, paid much attention to grammar and speaking skills. Everything came in handy. The coordinators were very considerate and efficient. I thank you a lot and want to continue studying at UdSU in future.

Gajdka Krzysztof Grzegorz (Poland):

These were two beautiful weeks in my life. I was looking forward to every meeting. I’ve learnt a lot during this fortnight. Many thanks to my fellow students, teachers and the staff of the International and PR Office. We will meet in Izhevsk for next Summer School for sure.

Mendoza Lara Carlos Daniel (Peru):

Thank you very much indeed! I’ve learnt to speak Russian and got new skills. I will remember this experience for a long time!

The implementation of the online project became possible due to 20 years of extensive experience of teaching Russian as a foreign language accumulated at UdSU. This includes teaching Russian in multi-lingual groups, University preparatory course for international students which had to be delivered online this Spring, international internships in partner universities in Europe, Asia and America.

Currently, UdSU is prepared to launch new practice-oriented online Russian courses. International applicants from any part of the world wishing to learn Russian for professional and personal purposes will have the opportunity to easily register for the courses.

The university administration highly appreciates both teachers and students’ efforts put into organization of this year’s Summer School of Russian Language. We will be happy to meet again in Izhevsk next year!
